김민경은 개인전 《정면을 만드는 것》에서 사물에 가치를 부여하고 소비를 유도하는 자본주의 사회의 관습에 기대어 제작한 신작을 선보인다. 그는 시니어 출연자들과 가상의 광고를 제작하는 과정을 거치며, 한국 사회를 관통하는 다양한 욕망과 가치관, 개인의 삶에 축적된 신념을 포착하고 이를 사진과 영상에 담는다. 

15년간 독일에서 학업과 작품 활동을 이어온 그는 작년부터 한국에 거주하며, 한국 사회의 일상과 개인의 삶에 작용하는 사회문화적 구조에 주목해왔다. 지난해 독일의 아침 식문화에 대한 관심을 계기로 구성한 개인전 《계란에 대하여》(2025, Hall 1)에 이어, 이번 전시에서는 우리의 삶을 지탱하는 동시에 늘 어딘가로 향하도록 하는 것들을 응시하는 시간을 제공할 것이다.

In her solo exhibition 𝑇𝑜 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑐𝑡 𝑎 𝐹𝑎𝑐𝑎𝑑𝑒, Min Kyung Kim presents new works that draw on the conventions of capitalist society, where value is assigned to objects and consumption is encouraged. Through the process of creating fictional advertisements with senior performers, Min Kyung explores the diverse desires and values that shape Korean society, as well as the beliefs accumulated over the course of individual lives, capturing them through photography and video.

After spending 15 years studying and developing her artistic practice in Germany, Min Kyung has been based in Korea since last year, turning her attention to the sociocultural structures that shape everyday life and individual experiences in Korean society. Following her previous solo exhibition 𝑂𝑛 𝐸𝑔𝑔𝑠(𝐺𝑒𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑣𝑜𝑚 𝐸𝑖) (2025, Hall 1), inspired by her interest in German breakfast culture, this exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the forces that sustain our lives while continually driving us toward something beyond the present.
